The Tseung Kwan O Bridge is a significant infrastructure project in Hong Kong, spanning across the Tseung Kwan O Bay. The bridge is divided into three parts: the main bridge, the east approach bridge, and the west approach bridge. The main bridge consists of a steel box girder and a steel arch, while the approach bridges are constructed using steel box girders. With a length of 214 meters, the main span features an outward inclined butterfly steel arch bridge design, with 100-meter side span steel box girders on each side. The steel arch of the project is made of S690L, while the steel box girder is constructed using S420M high-strength steel. The total transportation weight of the main bridge is approximately 11,000 tons.
The bridge serves as a connection for road traffic across the bay, with a total length of around 1.8 kilometers. Out of this length, 1 kilometer is an offshore viaduct, and the deck width of the main bridge measures approximately 35.8 meters. The main bridge section of the project is prefabricated as a whole in a factory, then slid onto a ship and transported to the bridge site for installation using the floating method. This construction process presents significant challenges and difficulties. The project is scheduled for completion in 2022. Once finished, it will become the largest steel arch bridge in Hong Kong, joining the ranks of the iconic Tsing Ma Bridge and Stonecutters Island Bridge as another landmark large-scale sea crossing bridge in the city.
Ronsco, a leading stockist of large-scale stainless steel coils, sheets, and plates, played a significant role in the railing construction of the Tseung Kwan O Bridge. With a regular stock of 3000 tons sourced from reputable manufacturers like Tisco, Tsingshan, ESS, and ZPSS, Ronsco provided high-quality stainless steel materials for the project. This included over 450 tons of premium 1.4436 stainless steel plates and stainless steel profiles.
Upon receiving the cooperation notice for the project, Ronsco promptly assigned the task to their dedicated employees and implemented stringent controls over production, transportation, and delivery. However, the material production faced obstacles due to the impact of the New Coronavirus epidemic. Despite the challenges, Ronsco took proactive measures to ensure the smooth progress of the bridge construction. These measures included working overtime, seeking external assistance, and expediting shipments, among others.
The outstanding performance of Ronsco throughout this business process garnered high praise from their customers. Moving forward, Ronsco remains committed to their original mission and will continue to prioritize "providing customers with unique value." They aim to enhance their service capabilities and create even greater value for society as a whole.
