Hastelloy C-276 has excellent corrosion resistance to most corrosive media in both oxidized and reduced states, which makes it perform well in a variety of environments. Hastelloy C-276 alloy is suitable for use in various chemical process industries containing oxidizing and reducing media. The higher molybdenum and chromium content makes it resistant to corrosion by chloride ions, while the addition of tungsten further improves its corrosion resistance. C276 is one of the only materials that can withstand corrosion from moisture, hypochlorite and chlorine dioxide solutions. The alloy also has significant corrosion resistance to highly concentrated chloride salt solutions, such as ferric chloride and copper chloride.

 

Application range of Hastelloy C-276
Due to its excellent corrosion resistance, Hastelloy C-276 is widely used in many fields. In the chemical and petrochemical fields, C276 alloy is widely used in components and catalytic systems that come into contact with chloride-containing organic matter. This material is particularly suitable for use in high temperature, inorganic and organic acids mixed with impurities (such as sulfuric acid and nitric acid), and seawater corrosive environments. In the pulp and paper industry, Hastelloy C-276 is used in the manufacture of equipment such as digestion and bleaching vessels because of its ability to withstand acidic environments containing hypochlorite. In addition, in flue gas desulfurization (FGD) systems, C276 alloy is also used in the manufacture of scrubbers, reheaters, wet steam fans and other equipment. These devices operate in sour gas environments and require excellent corrosion resistance. Hastelloy C-276 alloy is also widely used in equipment such as methylene dibenzoate (MDI) and acid condensers in the production of impure acids. The acidic environments involved in these applications place extremely high demands on the material's corrosion resistance, and Hastelloy C-276 is ideal for solving these problems.
